What is YEAR SET ?All the items regularly issued by a given country in the calendar year including stamps and souvenir sheets. Special formats, booklets, postal stationery and items not listed in a general catalogue (such as computer vended postage, or perforation, paper and gum varieties) are not included. However, some catalogues sometimes list together a quantity of stamps which were issued over a number of years and this can cause a great deal of confusion to the year set assembler/supplier and the collector. The contents of a year set may therefore sometimes differ from one supplier to another Also, in some cases, a stamp or a format of stamps may be listed by a catalogue in a format different than that intended by the issuing country, for example Costa Rica #583 which was recently released by the Postal Service as a pair of 2 attached different Pope stamps, printed in the format of a Miniature Sheet of 4 stamps (2 pairs). However, Scott catalogue gave instead a primary catalogue number to the Miniature Sheet (listing it as a Souvenir Sheet) and not the pair. A prominent year set supplier decided to along with Scott catalogue and we followed suit. To avoid any confusion, we list in our Year Sets (you can find them in TOPICS) exactly each item included. Each catalogue number represents one stamp and when it doesn´t we show the quantity of stamps intended by the catalogue number.
